in florida. the official results are due by saturday. mitt romney wrapped up his long white house candidacy by visiting his campaign headquarters in boston yesterday. he thanked staffers and said he knows they gave it their best shot. campaign members say romney and his wife ann were very gracious in defeat, and there was no sense of finger-pointing over the loss. a longtime friend said romney felt badly that his message about turning america around and solving the nations economic issues hadnt resonated with a broader audience. with the election behind him president is now focusing on brokering a deficit-reduction deal to avert a looming fiscal crisis. lawmakers from both parties have promised to work together to find a compromise before the end of the year. however. they still sharply disagree over the key issue of whether top tax rates should be raised to help resolve the crisis. republicans said higher rates would damage the economy while democrats said it was the only equitable way to tackle the debt. chicago will hold its first government-wide job fair where people will be able to app

plans on surfing again as soon as he's healed. president obama and republican candidate mitt romney got their campaigns back in full swing today. they'll hit several key states as they try and shore up support with the election just five days away. president obama is in green bay wisconsin at this hour. he's on a 24-hour whirlwind tour. criss-crossing the country to campaign in the swing states of wisconsin, nevada, colorado and ohio. republican mitt romney is making three campaign stops in the swing state of virginia today. he told supporters the country's economic troubles will not improve under another term with president obama. congressman jesse jackson junior will not be released from the mayo clinic before election day. jackson has already voted by absentee ballot and has no plans for a public appearance on election night. jackson was recently re-admitted to the clinic for treatment of bi-polar disorder. he also suffers from gastro- intestinal problems. he has not campaigned since taking a medical leave of absence in june. next we go live to the new york stock exchange. how some f

administration >> you said you were looking forward to speaking with governor romney sitting down in the coming weeks to discuss ways you can work together. have you extended? >> have not scheduled something yet. i think everybody forgets that the election was only zero weeks ago. i know i have forgotten. i forgot on wednesday. i think everybody needs to catch their breath. i'm sure governor romney is spending time with his family. my hope is that before the end of the year that we have a chance to get down and sit down and talk. there are certain aspects that i think could be very helpful. to give you one example, i do think he did a terrific job running the olympics. that skill said of trying to figure out how we make something work better applied to the federal government. i think there are a lot of ideas that i do not think our partisan ideas but are just smart ideas about how we can make the federal government more customer friendly. how can we make sure we are consolidating programs that are duplicative. he presented some ideas during the course of the campaign that i actually agree wit
